David Buxton

David Buxton, B.A., F.C.A.
David has been a partner since 1989. He acts as a close advisor to a diverse portfolio of owner managed businesses and private clients. David believes in forging close working relationships with clients, and guides them personally through the financial maze of the business world. He has a wealth of experience in general practice and particularly enjoys advising new businesses, raising finance and all areas of taxation. He is the firm's VAT specialist and Financial Services Act compliance partner.

Robert Bowen

Robert Bowen, B.A., F.C.A.
Robert has been with the firm since joining as a student in 1986. He became a partner in 1996 and is now the firm's finance partner. His large portfolio of clients has been built up over many years and is immensely varied. It includes a range of family businesses, pension schemes, charities, trusts and private clients. Specialities include professional partnerships, landed estates and property matters. Robert has been and continues to be an active member of the local community.
Interests: Playing golf, hockey and sport generally.
Paul Woodward

Paul Woodward, BSc, F.C.A.
Paul originally joined the firm as a student in 1988 and after qualification, spent five years as the finance director of a substantial family owned company before rejoining in 2002. Paul now acts as a general practice partner for a diverse range of clients including sole traders, partnerships, limited liability partnerships and companies. Paul has a degree in Agricultural Studies and offers specialised knowledge of the farming sector. He has also taken on supervision of the firm's student training programme for ICAEW and ACCA students.

Carol Swanson

Carol Swanson, LLB, F.C.A.
Carol trained with PwC in Birmingham, and after qualifying, specialised in tax becoming a Senior Manager in the private client and independent business area. In 2000 Carol joined H.L. Barnes & Sons as head of the expanding tax department and was made an Associate in 2002. In addition to dealing with her own portfolio of high net worth individuals Carol acts as a specialist tax advisor on Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax planning, Inland Revenue enquiries and Trust work.

Caroline Scandrett

Caroline Scandrett, BSc, F.C.A.
Caroline joined PwC in their Bristol office and on qualification in 1979 transferred to their corporate tax department in Birmingham. She later moved to H L Barnes & Sons and since that time has gained experience within all departments of the office. In addition to advising on Capital taxes, Corporation tax and Income tax her wide range of duties include managing the firm's computer systems. She also provides a comprehensive financial management service for several actors and sports personalities and is keen to help women in business.
